If you are a manufacturer of plastic injection molded pallets, you must know the importance of quality testing for plastic injection pallet mould products. Once the quality is problematic, it may lead to a series of other troubles. Today's article will explain in detail the quality inspection methods for injection molded pallets.

Checking the quality of the injection molded pallets is to identify if all plastic pallets meet the required quality standards, and you should consider the following key aspects:

Step1: How should you inspect the quality of injection molded pallets?

You only have a comprehensive approach to better understand the defects of the injection tray and why. This is where most plastic pallet mould manufacturers are prone to error.

1. Check the quality of HDPE and PP plastics

You need to verify the quality of HDPE and PP materials. Once there is impurities, it may interfere with the expected quality standards of the plastic injection molded pallets.

If you want good results, you should use high quality raw HDPE and PP materials.

2. Inspect all injection molded plastic at the end of the production process

At the end of each production cycle, you need to inspect each batch of plastic pallet mould. This will ensure the quality of each batch of products you have, and if problems are found, they can be processed in a timely manner without affecting the production of the next batch of products.

3. Inspect the plastic pallet injection mould machine

The defect you see on the pallet may be caused by a malfunction of the pallet injection mould machine. Nearly 76% of defects are caused by errors or improper use of these machines.

Our plastic injection molded pallets is for mass production, and any failure can be catastrophic. You may end up wasting more than 15,000 pallets. This can result in high operating costs.

Whether it is a sinking mark, a short shot or a burn; all of this is mainly due to a defective forming machine.

Be sure to configure the machine as recommended before starting the molding process.

4. Have a dedicated quality control department

In the plastic pallet mould process, if there is a problem, everyone involved in production must be responsible, this is a crucial step. The department should conduct a final inspection of each plastic injection molded pallets to ensure that the quality of each batch of products meets the requirements.

Step2: Learn to identify defects in injection molded plastic pallets

Understand, you can easily make the appropriate adjustments during the manufacturing process. It doesn't make sense to try to fix a pallet mould  manufacturing defect because you don't actually understand the cause and effect.

The possible injection molding defects are listed below:

Sink marks: This is a common phenomenon in which the exterior of the plastic pallet mould is solidified while the internal material is still molten.

To avoid this, make sure all parts are designed to have a consistent wall thickness. In addition, you can also adjust the parameters of the plastic injection molding pallets equipment, time or pressure.

Gas mark: Also known as combustion, this occurs because there is no air outlet in the mold and the material will escape as the molten metal fills the mold.

You can choose to strategically place all vents in the mold, or consider adjusting the injection speed.

Knit lines: This is a common phenomenon with injection molded pallets. Most pallets are designed with small holes on their surface. Normally, knit line manifest themselves in the form of weak line where molten materials meet around these holes.

Splay: In the plastic pallets injection process, the flow of bubbles can cause this. To eliminate this, you can consider redesigning the mold.

Flow marks: This is a common phenomenon that occurs when plastic does not flow properly in the mold cavity.

You can change the gate location or size to ensure that the plastic tray has no flow marks.

Short shots: This happens when the plastic pallets injection mold is not properly filled. You can adjust the mold parameters to eliminate this problem.

In short, these are some of the most common defects in injection molded plastic pallets.

Conclusion

These are the two important steps in when you want to check the quality of injection molded plastic pallets. Remember, quality evaluation should be a continuous process and not a one-time task.
